Great grilled steaks have been served up at Skomakaregatan 4, in the heart of Malmö, since 1966. That's when Tore Lauritzson opened Stek-Wändaren and Burger Grill - two restaurants in one, with two entrances. Burger Grill offered a simpler menu, which was ideal for lighter wallets and quick stop-offs, while Stek-Wändaren was Malmö's first American-style steakhouse, serving slightly classier, more expensive food. A newspaper clipping from the day before the grand opening said that the restaurant would be divided into three sections: "One section will serve hamburgers for diners in a hurry. The second section will offer a dish of the day under 5 kr, while the third will serve dishes such as roast beef for 12.50 kr."
